The Sales Representative has the sole responsibility for the generation of new business through telemarketing and personal visits to clients. The rep must also maintain their sales territory on a daily basis.
MAJOR ACTIVITIES:
To solicit and service new and existing customers in Canada and the United States over the telephone and in person
Use and maintain a computerized contact management database for a specific sales territory
To analyze existing business and laneways and to drive our sales to the next level
To communicate with new leads and customers on a regular basis to develop rapport, close sales, and cross-sell
To have a complete understanding and thorough knowledge of their own account database and account activity
Continually learn and improve selling skills
Other duties and responsibilities as assigned by the Sales Manager
TIME MANAGEMENT:
When in the office, 30 sales calls per day (30 reaches = 100+ dials per day, talk to 10 decision makers)
When outside the office a minimum of 4 sales calls per day
New leads followed up within 7 days
Full usage of prime selling time 9-11am and 1-4pm
SELF-ORGANIZATION
Plan each day, week, month
Plan each call
Present a professional image in the office and in front of the customer
Prepare call reports after each call
Submit Weekly Call Plan to Sales Manager every Friday
ADMINISTRATIVE
Assist AR in collecting delinquent accounts
Have new customers fill out credit applications
Submit a yearly sales forcast
TARGETS
Minimum 2 (two) new customers per month that ship at least 2 (two) times per month
Sales targets will be revised and set in conjunction with the sales manager from time to time.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Strong telephone skills
Experience within the transportation industry a definite asset but not a pre-requisite
Ability to recognize and respond to sales opportunities
Strong probing and closing ability over the telephone
Strong keyboarding and computer skills, experience with Lotus Notes a definite asset
Excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to work as part of a team
