"Searching for C.W. McCall reads like a truckers' anthem: do what you love, stand by your friends, and you can trust the road to deliver you to your destination. This good-hearted romp moves big rigs through big weather and a whole lot of trouble, but Mule Rider, Hoot 'N' Holler, Santiago, Sloan, and others are more than a match for what comes their way. A true romance of the road." (Summer Wood, author of Arroyo and Wrecker)
Tom Claffey interviewed numerous truckers and fans of C.W. McCall in writing Searching for C.W. McCall. He also met, on several occasions, with Bill Fries, the former advertising executive who created the character, C.W. McCall, and became his voice. Bill Fries wrote the truckers' anthem, Convoy, and, in the song, introduced the famed Rubber Duck. Claffey, in addition to spending time in a rig, has visited truck stops across the United States, including the world-famous Iowa 80 Truckstop. He and his wife live in Santa Fe, New Mexico.
"Hilarious and wildly offbeat, Hoot 'N' Holler is a rousing romp through the adventures of two feisty women who refuse to take retirement sitting down!" (Sarah Lovett, author of Dangerous Attachments and Dark Alchemy)
"The professional drivers in Tom Claffey's Hoot 'N' Holler are capable, quick-witted and independent professionals who just happen to be women!" (Ellen Voie CAE, President/CEO, Women In Trucking, Inc.)
