TORONTO - The Canadian dollar could touch US$1.10 within three years if economic conditions hold steady, the Conference Board of Canada predicts.

An economist at the private-sector forecasting group says the loonie is most likely headed to the $1.05 to $1.10 range in either 2010 or 2011.

He says the Bank of Canada isn't likely to cut interest rates in this country to nearly the same extent as the Federal Reserve does in the United States, and that will put upward pressure on the loonie.

The Canadian dollar recently began trading above the U.S. dollar for the first time since 1976 and has continued to solidify its position slightly above par for most of this week.

THIS ARTICLE IMPLIES THAT YOU SHOULD MAKE PLANS FOR SOME SIGNIFICANT CHANGES TO HAPPEN IN THE CROSS BORDER TRUCKING AND TRADING WITH THE USA! I WOULD EXPECT THAT THERE WILL BE A MAJOR SHIFT TOWARD INTER-MODAL TRAFFIC WITH ASIAN COUNTRIES AMONGST OTHER THINGS.
