What is this pill added to the fuel people are talking about?

Here's a forum that I belong to. There are lots of pill's and potions that claim to increase millage but you have to sift through them to find the real ones. You can do simple things that cost little or no money to gain MPG. Simply inflating your tire to just slightly over their maximum pressure will gain you up to 10% increase. Adding boric acid (roach Killer) to your engine and standard tranny/diff will give you gains. It's slipperier than graphite and is used in greases and additives.There's lots of info on this site. There are also a lot of things you can do to fool your computer into thinking it's running as normally (rich) when it's really running lean. When I say rich I mean, engines normally run richer than they have to so they keep the exhaust temps down, which in turn lowers NOx emissions.

Any idea's on how to get fuel mileage out of an 07 isx 565? The electronics on this motor have to be the worst i have ever driven since the invention of the ecm.

Have to TAKE a PILL everytime the FUEL BILL arrives
And the words " ISX , 2007 and good fuel mileage " just do not go together, need to get some miles on it and watch how you drive it.

I was listening to the "Road Dog" 147 on Sirius radio a couple weeks ago. They had a guy on that was an engineer for some trucking related company. He seemed to know his stuff anyway. The subject was fuel economy and the ISX engine. He stated that you should be working this engine in the lower rpm range 1000-1300 rpm. This is supposed to be the operating range it gets it's best fuel economy. 1400 rpm is where the torque is. He mentioned that you should use progressive shifting as well, and not using your cruise control while going over hills but use your foot to regulate the rpm/torque once you're in the correct gear. A lot of drivers calling in were getting 7-8 mpg range. They had slowed down to 60-62 mph, Idling time is another fuel waister. About1-1.5 gal/hr. Keep your tire pressure up also. Where I work they have Kal Tire come in every day to check the tires on all the equipment. Hope this helps.

Yup, Old Goat is on the right track. Keep those engine rpm's DOWN! Cruise control is a good fuel saver, as is slowing down. There is a 1 mpg difference if I keep the speed at 57 - 58 as opposed to 60 - 61 with the MB 450 that I drive. With that engine it also makes a BIG difference if the engine is worked over 1500 rpm, oil consumption jumps as does fuel consumption.

Thats why for years it was GEAR FAST run SLOW that gave the best fuel mileage,
The 475 HP ISX is very finiky with the RPM / FUEL ECONOMY
Peak HP is in the 1550 - 1750 RPM , cruises best at 1400 - 1500 RPM never want to drop below 1150 shift point and never run above 1700 RPM as it hurts the MPG big time , the torque is flat in the 1125 - 1375 RPM range so that 1000 - 1300 RPM range is kind of BS.
Many drivers know NOTHING about the proper TORQUE curve for the engines they use , seems its BIG HP and thats it.

ISX peak torque is at 1200 rpm, which is typical for modern EUI diesels. The curve has been pulled low in the rpm range for fuel efficiency. Those who continue to drive it like a 2-stroke suffer at the pumps.

Better check your info , have / had plenty of them in both KW's and VOLVOs they run PI## POOR at 1200 RPM

Ok, there;

...why, where did you think the torque peaked? You've suggested 1200rpm was at the lowest point (flat) of the torque curve... that's nonsense.
We don't cruise at peak torque... we lug back to it (or thereabouts) before downshifting in a climb. Most of your #s were fine, short of a suggestion that peak torque was somewhere that it isn't.
