On average, how much money have you guys earned who are owner operators in comparison to being a company driver?

On the average you would likely make a bit more. Lot of factors figure into it.

What you haul has a big difference , National Average mileage rates are higher for flatbeds then reefer then dryvan and FSC is higher for flatbed and reefer / dryvan are equal this week.

1) The gross amount of $ earned cannot be reasonably compared to the wage of a company driver.

2) The truck generates the $ and if your running things as a proper business you pay yourself a set wage , either X$ a week or X$ per mile.

3) After all the truck expenses are paid you can you pay yourself a bonus ( just like the big corporations ).

Now there are some who do the opposite and go HOG WILD with the $ as soon as the 1st BIG PAY comes in and the usually do not last past the first major repair bill.

Just so you have a comparison, the co. I work for is the exception to a lot of the rules.

Five day work week, o/t after 44, average week 55-58 hrs.
Highest paid co. driver last year- 70thou- bottom driver- 47thou

Its hard to find these jobs but they do exist, our turnover rate with 30 pieces of eqipment over three years .01%

I`m sure some o/o do better but man they EARN it.
