Hi when I started welding about 13 years ago I needed 3-5 years experience to land my first job.
I had no experience exept for the welding school so I took my brother in law's advice and found a company out of the phone book and listed them as my previous employer for 3 years.
I was hired immediately and worked there for 10 years.
what I was wondering is can I possibly get away with this in trucking?
has anyone ever done this sucessfully?
btw not a big fan of lying but what other options are there?
could I please get some advice on this?
I'm in the same boat as you are, but the companies I applied for what exact info. One faxed to the previous employer asking what kind of equipment I operated, how many km driven etc, even though they knew I just had finished driving school Nov 13, and I used to be a forklift operator.
I don't think you could get away with it, plus they have the dates you completed your course or got your license.

You can get away with it pretty easily, and i know a few people who have done this. However, once you get into that truck and start driving within 30 seconds the person doing the road test will know that you dont have 3 years experience as you might have claimed...
Paul thats a good point. Like my:Trucker: instructor used to say if you can't find them grind them, and grind them I did.

Use a defunct carrier's name...there's no shortage of them. Remember that as BIG as the industry is, it is very small and your new to be safety man be the safety man from your alleged past employer.

thank you all for the advice.
I would never have asked this question if i wasn't desperate.
I really want to get behind the wheel of a truck and unfortunately i lost my citezenship card which means no passport or fast card for me for the next 6-10 months.
does any one know how to speed this process up or do i even need the citizenship card to get a fast card?

What about shunting jobs?
would it be easier to get away with a "creative resume" for that type of work?
I was offered several jobs recently but they needed 6 months to 1 year experience .
I am getting very tired of hearing this.

find a company that as more employees than just drivers.
Like even something like challenger, they hire fuel attendents and washbay guys
get a job like that and drive trucks around yard, and eventually they will let you drive on the road for them.
