I'm a new driver. Got my class 1 last May and currently working in Alberta's oil patch driving liquid nitrogen bulk tank trucks. I got out of the forest industry because of the down turn there and now I am smack dab right in the middle of another one. Go figure eh! This is a career change for me as I am a certified industrial mechanic. You might think I am insane giving up the good money that a tradeskill provides but I really enjoy driving.

Anyway I am looking to go long haul once I get a couple of years experience under my belt. The great thing about having the class 1 is the many different options that come along with it. Once the long haul bug gets out of my system (as I know it will) I would like to switch back to hauling fuel or dry bulk, working for a company that pays hourly. Those jobs are out there, especially where I am located so all you folks who are frustrated with the OTR scene can think about doing somthing like that if driving remains one of your passions.
