I changed to a Verizon phone to save money.
my Sasktel cost me $300 per month for 1600 mins north american wide
my Verizon costs $138 for 2000 plus 1000 evenings north american wide
the only other cost is $65 for a PO box in the US per year

i am with bell and pay around $150 for 250 mins north america wide and then another $107 for my aircard for internet on my laptop with 1GB of usage north america wide. I am sure it would be cheaper to get a US phone and aircard. And i really should have.

Beastr did they do a credit check, did you have to put a deposit down. What was the procedure? where did you get it connected? Location?
