My air dryer is spitting oil all over my stepps and fuel tank! Does this mean the O-rings in the compressor are shot? Or could it be a bigger problem?

Probably means the air compressor has taken early retirement. The air dryer may also need to be rebuilt as the dessicant cartridge will be comtaminated with oil.

just keep checking engine oil, and draining oil from air tanks until you get new compressor

O.K, thanks for the replies! As long as I drain my air tanks daily I'll be o.k till I get a new compressor? Won't any oil have gotten through air lines and into any trailers I've pulled?

Disconnect the discharge line at the compressor, look in the line or better yet, run the engine and put a clean rag or kleener at the discharge point and see how much oil is comiong out. If it's considerable, get another compressor.

Thanks Pipeman! Will do but judging by the amount of oil on my step and fuel tank, I would say it is considerable. I'll try that first thing in the morning though thanks!

A temporary fix is to install a piece of rigid hose to the exhaust of the air dryer to get the dirty air lower and away from your steps and fuel tank. It needs to be rigid so @ 60 mph it doesn't deflect/bend and rub against anything.

So I drained my air tanks and disconnected discharge line from compressor, ran engine and no oil come out at all.... drained tanks again and still no oil comming out of compressor but air dryer does spit out oil on the ground when I reconnected the discharge line to the compressor.... I'm baffled!
