i was told by my CDL instructor that the CB is a way of the past is this true and if it is what is every one using now a days cuz if its something like VHF i wouldnt mind putting one in my pickme up truck

In some places my VHF will transmit up tp 45 Miles.

for the VHF what are the freqencys that are used most by trucks and the same goes for CBs what channels are used most?

This site is supplied by the federal goverment. There are a lot of Open Channels. For instance, on the Alaska Highway we always used Ladd 1.

On the C.B. is Channel 19 that Truckers use, and not sure about the VHF. When I had a VHF, we had the LADD 1 and 2 and a few others.
