trucker offers another perspective
10/8/09
letter to the editor
from steve harding ("most county roads owned by the people, "the observer, oct. 3, 2009).
first: Neither the truckers nor the car drivers own the county roads. All roads throughout the province are owned by all taxpayers.
Second: Every time steve fills up his car he pays federal, provincial taxes and gst.
What does that amount to in a week if he uses an average of 70 litres of gas a week?
Just in the county of lambton i know of at least six truck stops that sell diesel fuel to trucks from all over the country and the u. S.
These trucks put in an average of 600 to 1,000 litres on one fill-up.
