Im living in Ireland and want 2 drive trucks acoss Ireland, Britain and Europe. Ive heard the driving test 4 trucks in the USA and Canada isn't as hard as it is in Ireland or Britian!!!
Im consdering coming 2 either Canada or the USA 2 sit my truck test over here and come back 2 Ireland and exchange it 4 a truck lisence there. Im just wondering is there anyone from Ireland or Britian on this site who can tell me what's involved in doing a test in Canada or USA and is it really easier than sitting my test in Ireland or Britain???

theres no way you can get a truck licence in canada or usa, and then just transfer with no testing, to a european licence!
you will still have to do the full testing procedures
the laws are all totally different in every province state and country

the truckdriving test is not hard anyway, and seems like a dumb idea to come all the way to canada or usa, get a truck licence, then go back to europe and try to transfer it!

I suppose u have a good point alrite!! I just have heard stories about people in Britian and Ireland failing their test loads of times. Even 1 guy in England failed his test 8 times!!! I just heard it was easier in America and Canada and just said Id check it out. I don't want 2 have 2 try and do my test 10 times. Maybe I just shouldn't bother doing at all I suppose, but there's always an easy way!!!:shades:

wel if you can't pass the test, you probably should not be driving a big rig.

I suppose u have a good point there, but I have 2 friends in Ireland, who both drove trucks (artics) all over Ireland and even 2 Europe and neither passed their driving tests 4 a HGV!!! Both of them got fake lisences and 1 lad drove all over Europe from Poland 2 Spain and Italy 2 Norway for 5 years and eventually was found 2 have a fake lisence. He went 2 court and got off, however it took him 3 attempts 2 pass his HGV test and my other mate drove around Ireland and Britian in trucks 4 years, as well as an odd trip 2 Europe and he still hasn't passed his HGV test!!! Neither of these men had crashes either in their years driving. Some people happen 2 have a problem with their nerves, etc, and doing tests can be difficult, when your under alot of pressure!!

Biker is right, US and Canadian truck tickets do NOT transfer to any nation in Europe, full stop, end of story, and the reverse is also true.
There are exemptions to this for serving military personnel on deployment over here, but that's it.
Oh, and the driving part of the US/Canadian test may be easier, the rest of it is WAY harder, trust me on this. You have to do a crazy complicated pre-trip for the tests, and you have to keep all the numbers and procedures in your head.
If you want a license, get it in your home country.
