hi again well this is probably about my fifth time here and the few times i have been here ive browsed the site and have answered some of the questions i would ask. k well here is my situation i got outta school 2 years ago now when i first my az on dec 19 2008 i could not find a job till spring of course which was at pronorth in north bay on which i had another lady with me to train me long hauling..her name is shelly we had the best summer ever luckily we got along great.anyhow why i chose this job was because my children are basically adults now my son is living in his second year of university and my daughter who is still only 18 just got her own place but at the time of going long haul my son had just moved to the university and my then 16 year old was still at home now alone 5 days of the week by herself while i trucked through ontario and came home on weekends. well besides the fun of trucking came the hard stuff which took over at the time first of all being a newbie i only got a whole 250 dollers a week this went on for 3 months and then my daughter was really not doing so good being on her own that long for the first time but we had to do it poverty and all for me to get the experience. and i will continue this story in a little bit i want to make sure first of all im not writing to much and second make sure i publish it properly...

so now when i did the summer with shelley one thing like i said was the poverty issue wow how is 250 dollers a week gonna get us through but we did it then one thing i realize now is a bit of a problem is we drove an automatic now being fresh outta school was probably not the smartest thing but i did learn to manouver that truck alot more confidently than i ever thought i could. so that is one little problem i may have now not sure cause its been a while if i will be as confident shifting now.. a good thing did happen though was one time i got pulled in the scale for inspection and i passed so now that is on my cvor and i hope that is a plus for job placement again..anyhow now came winter and to be near my daughter and make sure i finish what i started which was raising my kids priorty first ..i then got a job driving a snow plow for miller now i was only on relief which meant when the boys ran outta hours i would then take over.well as u know the last few winters especially that one it barely snowed at all so besides riding with a fellow employee for fun i didnt get a whole lotta driving in again. but i did get to practice on my shifting a little ther but as u know plows go slow and u rarly make it outta 5th gear..but a little practice was better than none. so then came spring again which is now a year ago..i had met a guy who was also a trucker and we started dating he did long haul across canada..from hamilton to the beautiful british columbia.and here is where because i went with him across 9 times is where i learned alot more of the trucking world.,i will continue again soon...

Dave <--- see we don't bite

Well, he does. He bit my head off once, but now that I've regrown another, things have been smooth...

From the left coast, Colleen, welcome. There must be an easier way to make a living, but we need more, capable women truckers. I love a good story, too. Keep it coming.
