Here's a good one; i take a load from Dorval,Qc @ Mississauga,On an been paid 346mi. After that been dispatch to go from Mississauga,On @ Etobicoke,On @ Dorval,Qc an been paid 339mi. After asking management I've been told that we are now paid by Milemaker V19. Not bad for an awnser!! How by any physical law can the miles be shorter on one side?? Any awnser on this or any interresting theory?? I'm very interrseted to hear about-it!!!! :36_1_4[1]:

PcMiler V15 says:
Dorval to Mississauga 341.8
Mississauga to Etobicoke 5.8
Etobicoke to Dorval 335.7

Grand total is 683.3 miles

but it depends how many times you circle the parking lot at the "ten-acre".

What is the ten acres have to do with this???

Broken flux capacitor? A variance in the time/space theory? Sorry, but only science can answer this one! ;)

No law say's they have to use PCMiler, if Rand Mcnally show's less mileage they will use it.One software for customer's eye's only and one for driver's and O/O's.The UNION should have included software stipulation's in it's contract's or maybe they do have it and the co. doesn't care.

Swift driver's had a class action law suit a couple of year's ago about the same thing but I don't know what the outcome was.

Ok look like no much peoples understand: if you go one way an get paid 346mi if you then go back to your point of origin you should at least make the same milleage rite! even if you do a stop en route it shouldn't shorter the miles hein, unless that the physical law been reverse!!! But when you explain that to the management an that they hide behind a ridicoulus explanation like : we went from v18 to v19 then you wonder what's going on an also is there any other milleage where the drivers get SCREW!!!. It may seen stupid to wonder what about 7 miles but I'm paid by the miles so yes it is IMPORTANT, if I'd be paid by the hours I wouldn't care but it's not the case. So here's my questions; is there anyone with an explanation ?? Is the physical laws been change?? :moodswings:

Well it must be longer distance uphill than it is downhill. How else can you explain it other than they're crapping on you ???????????

Well, atleast it is open to discussion and they haven't said NO! (joke) I think their math or computing is flawed. If it were me I would ask for a load to "world headquarters"...can I sit in on your meeting with them?

Well Ralph glad to see that you do have sense of humors, I do think that's a way for them to sidestep the question don't you think?? My dad use to say that there's no one blinder then the person who refuse to see!!:36_1_7[1]:

Take them up on their offer. get a load to world HQ and have "management" (not some payroll clerk) SHOW you useing the PC Miler program how this makes sense. Hold their ass to the fire on this one. They opened the door by making the offer.

For some reason they keep me away from the HQ :-((

Maybe I am overly simplistic but if I needed to get to "World HQ" and discuss this with an individual why wouldn't you get that person involved in the process of getting you there? Surely to God there are loads in Dorval going west that you could drop @ "World HQ" and have your meeting OR is it that they DON'T want you there for some reason? If you can't get to your backyard, invite them to your backyard.

Just out of curiousity, is this something that could be negotiated when contract talks open OR does the contract only discuss current and future events?

It will be dicuss after you receive the accreditation from CIRB, what you do is you call up for a general meeting an you can present a project that the peoples present do vote for, then you sit down an start long negociation. It is most of the time very difficult for the first contract as the employer is not familiar with negotiation. Well they will learn an you know what it doesn't hurt. The most important thing in all kind of negotiation is that the peoples of both side of the table are there to negotiate in a frank manner.

On the other side the time that I'm sitting with peoples in management to try to find out a solution to their program, I'm not paid but all of them are, so what I do is that we have peoples who's job is to fix these type of problem so I make sure that they are busy an keep bugging them with my questions, for certain thing I'm very patient, will be there with the time!

No, but they met in Quebec last week to discuss and tentatively resolve some issues.

This is something that always bothered me.

you are paid by the hour, you have a time slip or someking or recording that will say how many hours you have worked.

you start at a certain time, and finish at a certain time.
breaks and lunches are cut off and it's normal.

not much discussion on how many hrs you have worked.

by the miles theres nothing anywhere who will tell you haw to determine how many miles you have traveled.

Companies have been using all kinds of creative ways to cut miles.

How many times have we seen the distnce between Toronto and Montréal shrink?

If your company has satellite tracking then they can easily see exactly how far that truck has travelled in a day or over a certain route such as Toronto to Montreal.

Yeah just like you say, an they do have the technology but for some mysterious reasons they don't use it, an preffer some other programm an refuse to tell us the exact awnser an keep us in the dark an hide behind official reason like : We are using version 19 of Milemaker an that's the way it is nothing we can do!!!

No it's not stupid , it's your money , if they do that regularily it adds up , if it's a large co. say 1000 + drivers and they do the same daily to all the drivers , that becomes 7000 mile a day savings

PC Miler says 685.5 miles

so i may b out to lunch on this one but if pc miler says its 685.5 miles round trip then if they paid him for 346mi on the way down and 339mi back he didn't get paid for only .5mi right? or am i way off?
