Hey my wife wanted some fences, gates for each side of the house.
Of course I opened my big mouth and said..."I can do that"
So here here how it's turning out.

Sorry about the link, dunno how to post pics.

Started on a piece of napkin

Then made a ruff draft on paper and decided what size, thickness steel to use.

Refined the design a bit.

Made a board with the drawing on it for guidance,

Tadaaa we have one side done.

not bad for an amateur huh?

Today ,I spend the day reinforcing the sides and installed the hinges, applied the first coat of primer.
will finish it next week end.

those are great RF--i am sure you know what you would have to pay to buy something like that----at least 350
maybe you should start a sideline business

I have no clue how much a fence or gate like that would cost.
Geeez couples of months ago I bought the welder and didnt know how to use the darn thing, I just needed one because I have some modification to do on the frame of my Corvette I'm rebuilding.
Then when my wife asked for gates, like I said, I opened my big mouth and said I could do that!

It made with 2by2 square tubing, some 2by quarter inch flat bar and the interior design is made with 1inch by one eight flat bar.
Got some pretty hefty hinges with half inch pins.
Cost me about that to make in material, 350$ including paint.

Dont worry about the Vette, slowly but surely, went to Atlanta last week ended up at Summit racing, bought a alu waterpump, ordered a distributor,(MSD with the tach drive), I'll get there.

Haaaa here we go with a bit more progress on the gate.

Today we made holes, mixed 12 bags of cement and installed the fence.

Long day, but I'm pretty happy with the results and my client looks real happy too.

tomorow, I'll separate the doors, they are still welded in the middle. and repaint everything.

Know what you mean, next stop, starter, headers, ignition system (they called, they have receive the distributor didnt have it in stock last time)
Then I can start the engine back to life, that will be a big milestone, it has not run since 1980,
They completely rebuilt the engine and carb last spring,

Havnt touched it for a while, 2 weeks ago I finished the mock up on the steering box. I modified a few things there.
Put in a 2004 Jeep grand cherookee steering box.
Too many hoses and useless leak proned cylinder on the old system

Align everything all is left to do is finish the welds and sent the frame to paint or powder coat, not sure yet $$$.
After the paint, I begin to reassemble the frame, I have all the parts to do it.
new suspension, bushings etc.

Then I'll start on the body work.
The engine is on an engine stand but I got to get it started and break in the cam.

Cant wait to hear it.

Thanks for asking.

Rat fink here is an idea; i built an engine stand to mount clutch housing, mounted a rad at front hooked all up, to prestart engines before we put them in late model stock car chassis. Saved a lot of pulling engines. And if some thing goes wrong it's out in the open for you to repair easily.

Yep this is the plan, I have a bunch of 2 by 2 square tubing left over from the gate and plan to build one of them things.
Just need enough time in the garage to start building it.

It also helps find any leaks and pre tune the engine before the engine is installed in the chassis.

If I dont build it I might install it in the roller chassis and start it in there.

The body wont be ready for a while, got a few repairs to do on the bird cage.
