I was visiting friends and asked their little girl what she wanted to be when she grew up. She said she wanted to be the Prime Minister of Canada.

So, I asked her, "If you were the Prime Minister, what would be the first thing you would do?"

She replied, "I'd give food and houses to all the homeless people..."

Her parents beamed with pride (strong supporters of the New Democratic party).

"Wow...what a worthy goal," I told her. "But you don't have to wait until you're Prime Minister to do that, you can do that right now. Why don’t you come over to my house, you can mow the lawn, pull some weeds, and sweep my driveway, and I'll pay you $50.

Her eyes lit up, but after a few seconds she asked, “But how will that help the homeless people?”

I told her, “After you are all done, I'll take you over to Safeways where the homeless guy hangs out begging for change, and you can give him the $50 to use toward food and a new house. Wouldn’t you like doing something wonderful like that?"

She thought that over for a few seconds, and then she looked me straight in the eye and asked, "Why doesn't that homeless man do all that work and you can just pay him the $50?"

And then, realizing how truly bright this little girl was for making that connection, with a big, warm grin I shook her hand and said, "Welcome to the Conservative Party."

Her parents still aren't speaking to me ... :laugh1:
