Link doesn`t work, thats O/K Neither do union membersDrifter, I worked my butt off all my life. I've done very well and yes, I do get one hell of a nice pension cheque from the Teamsters. So do a lot of drivers that worked for me back in the 70's.

I had a reason to having my companies under Union Agreements. That's where the good bucks were. They still are today, try to go to work for people like OJ Pipelines, Sommerville Pipeline, Banister, etc etc. Unless you're in the union you don't get a bite of the good paying jobs.

Don't paint everyone with the same brush because you feel unions let you down. I had episodes like that too, but hell you have to attend meetings sometimes and state your case and let the Membership vote to back you. That's the way it works.

You know Drifter, I read what you had to say about the challenger thread, I do respect your opinions but...

heres post you did talking about union at cmf.

." Union representation at CMF would be a large plus for the whole industry, once the bugs get worked out and everyone, company and union work within the contract. CFM would get applications from the best of drivers and be able to select from the cream of the crop. With CSA2010 starting it would really benefit them.

Other companies (non union) would have to offer similar packages to what CMF and the Union (EMLOYEES OF CMF) agree to or loose their best to CMF, So industry wide you would see treatment of drivers improve and maybe pay scales improve as well.

Challenger years ago said it would never be a union shop and implied they would close, other companys would pick up the extra business and drivers to handle it. then you approach another co. to unionise(sp?) and go on from there.

Things have to change sometime. Have any of you been pressuring your M.P. about getting this industry declared as skilled Labour. to stop the importation of offshore labour. As long as this industry stays classified as unskilled labour they (companys) can import drivers from other countrys to keep pay rates depressed. CALL YOUR M.P."

I don't see any "personnal agenda". It just about the time that drivers start to stand-up for theirs rights, an try to improve theirs working conditions . We have to start somewhere so why not with challenger , that can give a very good example of what can be done in this industry. The example cite by Pipeman is a very good one; an it is reality, an strange they didn't close door or when into bankrupcy; hummm weird n'est ce pas!!!!

What's weird is; that when Peoples stand up for theirs rite like We are doing at challenger, you should see all the peoples, that by the way a lot don't even work there, all the peoples that are opposed to that, without having valuable arguments. How they try to have us look like We are some kind of strange creature, of bad personn We are because We DARE to do something, brrr how bad We are, We do eat personn at nite !!!!

What's weird is ;that because We have a different opinion of the situation an because We will change the things We are very bad personn. All the improvement that have been done in OUR society over the years, an if you don't believe me I suggest you to go check in any history book, have been done by the peoples who dare to stand-up an make change, either with citizen association or with Unions. No social change have been made by any corporations, or compagny . When they have done some change it is because they have been force either by the strong public pressure or by the goverments.
