One of our trucks was in for a service and hasn't been finished, so I've had to hire in one. Got this topline scania, not bad for a hire!

It's the model with the top bunk at the front, access to it is with this ladder (which rattles when you drive)

Anyway, it's off round Glasgow and then on to Port Glasgow, where the weather is surprisingly good for winter. Gives me a chance to take thess views across the Clyde from the top of Port Glasgow.

Wednesday is a change of scenery, I'm off to Edinburgh. The first drop is Grant Westfield, talk about slow (paint drys quicker!!). Over two hours to off-load 15 packs of veneer.

Next job is a collection of personal effects from a flat in the town. I think I've left just enough room for cars to get past, but there's always one!!.......Six cars including an Audi estate get past, but a woman in a nissan micra gives me grief but she can't get past, even when the mercedes sprinter van squeezes past, she's still sat behind blowing her horn (like that's going to move me!!)

Then it's on to the Scotsman hotel to deliver slippers, (yes thats right for £150 a room per night, you get a cheap pair of slippers imported from China). Anyway the tradesmans entrance is right under the North Bridge, so here's a view of the bridge as I approach (the building in the background is the North British hotel)

And this is a view from underneath looking towards the old parliament building

Thursday one of my jobs was picking up a load from D. Stevens yard in Bellshill, they run a tidy fleet from their base in Scrabster in the far north of Scotland.

Friday, days going great, three drops off and then into Terex with the fourth and it's only 10 past 8. Unfortunately, there's a one way system, which means I'm stuck in this queue for the parts store

Best job in the world must be the testers in Terex, they have their own test track and some poor sod has the job of driving round in these brand new dumpers just to make sure they work okay (can I have a job please?)

Next drop is Celtic Park home of Celtic Football club (I didn't type that bit, being a Rangers fan I had to get somebody else to type the "C" word)

I wasn't taking an outside photograph, well I might be recognised and would never live down the shame.

Then it's in to Glasgow, a city constantly on the change. In the centre, these old 60's buildings are coming down and probably will be replaced with more glass fronted office blocks. Nice to see the old church standing the test of time though.

http://i118.photobucket.com/albums/o82/woodie_bucket/week3/DCP_4000.jpg

Then it's off to a small bit of Glasgows famous past which is still going strong, the BAE shipyard on the Clyde
http://i118.photobucket.com/albums/o82/woodie_bucket/week3/DCP_4004.jpg

The clyde used to surrounded by shipyards, only a few remain, but the relics of the past, like this crane survive as a reminder. Cranes like this used to lift locomotives which were also made in Scotland on to ships destined for the far corners of the world.

Last collection of the week is into Cohen alloys to pick up steel ingots. The shed is run down but is probably older than me (or maybe even bookworm, :harhar: )

And last delivery is Kirkintilloch, here's a view of the Campsie Hills on the way into Kirkintilloch.

See you all next week. (and sorry about that joke Bookworm, couldn't resist it)

Hi Woodie!

Nice pic's, especially the FH of Stevens & Sons, thx!

I always liked the trucks from the island for their still classic paint schemes even on the late models.
In mainland Europe the paint schemes mostly got lost through the '90s & rental/leasing white is dominating now :-(
