That must have been one real interesting book....what a dumb ***!!
NORTH PERTH – A 68-year-old man reading paperwork while driving with two young children buckled in car seats in the back seat of his car faces a charge of careless driving.
A Perth County Ontario Provincial Police officer stopped the man at about 1 p.m. last Thursday after the officer saw the man reading what appeared to be a book while driving on Highway 23 in Atwood.
In the back seat of the car were two young children buckled up in car seats, said Const. Kees Wijands of Perth County OPP.
The officer was conducting radar patrol on the highway when the officer saw a northbound car weaving in and out of traffic, striking the gravel shoulder and veering into the incoming lane.
Police say the driver was too absorbed in his task that he did not stop his car even though the officer had his emergency light and sirens on. The driver eventually stopped a kilometre away.
