Aren't you guy's funny. ;)
I have already been put on stand by for tomorrow. I may be the only one on the afternoon shift that will make it in for sure, so there won't be any time to play in the snow bank's. :harhar:

Thanks Hellcat. I was done at my old job last Friday. Just doing some things around the house. My wife and i are heading into Winnipeg Friday am to visit our son. The home Sunday and start packing my big *** duffle bag.
Head out as far as Saskatoon on Monday then it's only a little over 4 hrs drive to where i have to do my orientation. I first have to sign some papers and a quick road test then Wed am it's orientation for the day then hop the company van and off into the bush for 2 weeks.
I am doing a 2 week stint so i can get into the right rotation because when i come home it works out my wife will be off for the same weekend as i am home. :classic:
I'm sure it will be tough on my wife for the first while but once the cheques start rolling in that should make her happy ;)

I hope it all works out for you guys. It's a big change, especially if she is used to having you home. You need to get her on the board her so I can keep her company. :D
When the girl's left, & I moved here to Kitchener 2 yr's ago, it was really hard. I was lucky, as I know people from this area, & was asked to work on the Convoy. this keeps me busy pretty much yr round. I still get my moments when the quiet brings home to me that everyone is gone, but I have learnt to use those to my advantage.
I hope for nothing but the best for you & your family.

Here in the Shwaa it would appear that there is about 5" of very dry fine light snow but the CFTR 680 News reports are saying that down Hamilton way it is as much as 70cm=say 14" of wet enough to stick to the trees! The farther North you are the less you got so the worst is over the Lake and in poor old Upstate N.Y. again that does not need any more! How about you over there in K/W land? eh, Holly?

Not to bad here. We got about 8cm I think. They said there is more to come yet. Mostly blowing & biting cold.
I have to find my car so I can clean it off. ;)
Thankx Double T. I bet it's still colder there. :harhar: :harhar:

We have only gotten a skiff so far in Barrie but it is cold they say the snow is suppose to stop early afternoon. I nearly froze (it was -20C before wind) when I had to walk to work yesterday and today I will have to walk to the garage where my car is - my brake pedal went to the floor yesterday still waiting to hear from the mechanic what needs to be fixed. It is -16C with wind -26C

Out all night!! Making the roads safer for my fellow citizens of this great province of ours!!! But, I don't let it go to my head!!! :wtf: :wtf:
Got to the point during the night that the snow was falling so fast and the temperature was so cold that we quit spreading salt or sand!! Just plowed!! Salt or sand would have had little effect anyways!!
I'll likely be heading back in to night to fight the drifting if there is any!!
Take care out there!!

There will be lots of drifting the way that wind has come round to the North now and the skies cleared off! Stay home to night if you can, otherwise be very carefull. The high pressure behind the storm low pressure is always much colder. -38 Windchill forecast for the Sudsbury region which is getting into the brutal range!

Well that was funnnnnnnnnnnnnnn!
I left Hamilton Tuesday morning @ 8am in a blizzard. I live 10 minutes from the yard. Took me over an hour to get there.
Left the yard to load in Nanticoke. When I got to Caledonia the roads were dry and stayed that way until I got to Erie Pa.
Then all He$$$$ broke lose. I went from a dry road to 4 inches of snow in a quarter mile and it didn't let up.
I was forced to pull off at Kingsville Ohio for visibility problems. I couldn't see 2 feet. This is not good with a 48,000 lb coil behind you.
Wednesday, I left in daylight. Got a whole 1/4 mile. My first turn from the road to the highway ramp was a nightmare. I turned left, the tractor turned left and the trailer turned EXTREMELY left. I caught it before it hit anything but I learned what cotton tastes like.....the hard way.
Finally delivered 5 hours late, got reloaded and headed for home. I delivered this morning in Toronto, boogied for Nanticoke and @ 11am decide I needed to go back to the yard for supplies.
Now it's noon. To early to go to Youngstown Ohio so I came home. I just got a call from dispatch, my customer is closed tomorrow. Now I got to go back, unhook and plug my tractor in.
During all my trip Queen B kept me posted on the local news. Officially, where I live in Hamilton we have 72cms of snow. Unofficially, there is 5 ft of it in my back yard.

Thanks Dave. I had to go dig a path for the dog to get outside. I'm 5'11" and had a hard time piling snow out of the way. Around here, they figure tomorrow afternoon before they get all the streets open.

Take heart, they are forecasting for it to go above freezing on Monday and Tuesday. Hope they get some drains open in time!

About time people along the 401 got some snow! haha
we have already gotten our share, its their turn down south!
Theres alot of times we just plow and don't sand or salt, if its windy and drifting, theres no point wasting sand or salt, it all just blows away anyway! usually we only sand sheltered areas and stopping area and curves if its drifting.
And if the snow is more than a couple inches deep, we might sand on the way back, no point sanding on top of deep snow, it will just get plowed off on the way back. But if its still snowing heavy, we don't sand at all.
I love plowing on closed roads, my route has been closed for a couple days so far this year. Theres not many out there in my way when its closed!
