having just returned from canada the western provence of alberta is for sure were i would like to settle the beauty of the land the especially running north up highway 2 from lethbridge the rocky mountains to the west and the flat land to the east i also liked the flat country in saskatchewan as i wouldn't be used to that flat country in ireland . i also found out some strange people who were called huderites in saskatchewan im sure these people are harmless but a strange sight for the first time i was told they live in big colonies and farm the land in a massive scale i9 must of seen a main chief because this guy had the biggest stetson hat i've ever seen and all the men wore black suits and the women with hankies on there heads . i had some real positive feedback from several cattle haul companies around southern alberta who have already brought in english drivers as there are lots of cattle and hoggs crossing the border into the usa each day from canada so lethbrdge seems like a good place to relocate and another bonus the majority of the driving is in the western states of the usa which isn't as populated as the mid west and east so less ass holes on the roads in my view i was also disappointed at the lack of truckstops in canada but i've heard from a canadian driver that flying j is opening 12 new sites over the next four years i visited the new fling j in saskatoon while i spent a day in the city great restaurant facilities also the flying j in edmonton western canda seems like a great place to live and there is a severe shortage not just truckdrivers just about evry professionall trade as in construction and not forgeting the oil fields which im sure has lured a lot of people with the prospect of big earnings

You were obviously impressed with the West! You were starting to make me home sick again after nearly 43 years!
The Hutterites are not that popular amongst the rest of the population because they buy up huge tracts of land and then when they own whole townships, they close the roads off which makes it an impediment to straight line travel. They are a Germanic Christian Sect similar to the Menonites/Amish but emigrated to Russia before coming to Canada, I believe. They allow themselves to use modern farm machinery unlike the Amish, but no personal luxuries like cars, TVs, etc. They practice a commune style of farming more so than the Amish, I have heard. There are other Sects, too. Maybe Bookworm can elaborate on some of his distant neighbors called Dukabors! They have a Sons of Freedom Sect which practice some interesting beliefs!
Good luck on the immigration preparations. Make sure of all the details and documents. Not all civil servants are civil(ized), but are unionized!
