And I kinda know how to do this...albeit slower and more cautious that years ago

My hobby is canoeing and camping. I used to do allot more wood working but since I moved I lost my shop. Still trying to fix that problem. Started building a 16x16 workshop shed two weekends ago. just about ready to shingle. Man what a big job that turned out to be.

Not sure why you can't post photos from Photobucket? If you mouse over the photo you want the post and menu drops down and you can choose either "direct" or "IMG code". With "direct" I find I have to use the "link button (the one that looks like the earth, centre of the bottom row) to get it to work. With "IMG code" I can paste the link into the message.

For example, here is a photo of an original '64 Shelby Cobra I took at the vintage car races at Mission Speedway a few years ago.

Nice car mc, I had a 89 Tbird that I really loved, blew a head gasket and sat in my garage for 2yrs waiting for me to fix it, then a buddy talked me into selling it to him and he shoehornd his hotrodded engine from his mustang into it. He sold it soon after.

thanks man, ya they have a great chassis: rear wheel drive, independent rear suspension, unibody and a bunch of standard luxury features.

I am not sure about life saving. We still have grocery stores.

mc94xr7-my buddy had a couple T-Birds and a Cougar with the IRS, I think he still has the diffs out of one (8.8). Those things last forever if they're taken care of. Cars were my hobby before I sold everything off and bought another bike.

end of the road-I went to a firearms class that was a entry thing for the hunting license/f.a.c and never finished, too many other things going on (I was 14 or 15-'91-92ish). My sons Godfather is bigtime in guns and hunting....he's already asked to take him out when he is older.

I just got into since I moved here and I enjoy it as much as canoeing. It seems to be a nice excuse to surround myself with nature.

Thats what I hear, would like to do it some day, probably after I retire though. We have drove 30 miles north of Elliot Lake, Kirkland Lake and Temagami all 6 to 8 hours driving. Love being in the country like that usually 5 or 6 cabins on the whole lake rarely seeing anybody. We rent cottages not getting up at 5am to go fish but will go out for a couple hours during the day then a couple hours at night. The serious guys are on the water from 6am to 9pm thats not for me. I haven't caught a walleye yet but going to go after them next. I go after lake trout because their hard to get, got some pike and bass are fun to catch and easy to fish for. Got this little guy earlier this summer was going to put him back but he swallowed my Mepps muskie killer to deep so we had dinner instead also why Im not holding him by the gill. 24" 5lbs on my scale.:Trucker:

Well I got me a bear tonight. Shot him right around dusk. Tried to find him but it got dark too fast. I'll go out in the morning and drag him out. Not sure about weight but as far as size goes his body was about the same size as the 45 ga. drum. Beauty black one. I take some pictures and post tomorrow.

Why a bear?

Are you going to eat it?

Was it threatening you or your family?

Of course I am going to eat it. No sense shooting it if you can't eat it. Spent all morning in the pouring rain (first good rain here since spring) looking for it, but no luck. I'll head back out later after work and try again.

If you can't find it maybe you missed.

If you do find it will it be any good to eat after all this time?Maybe some other critters beat you to it.

There was bright pink blood at the spot where it was shot, that sort of tells me it was a lung shot. The bear made some horrendous wheezing noises as it took off. It was too dark to see blood trail last night and when I used the flashlight it was creating too many shadows to be effective. The rain this morning really screwed me up. I am not sure what kind of shape it will be in but I need to make another serious attempt to recover the animal.

Poor bear ... I'm sad.

If I had my way, bears would be able to shoot back or hunters would have to kill 'em with just their hands and teeth ... eh, it would be more fair.

Yeah, the gal that owns (or owned... last time I was through there was in 2009) the little coffee shop in the corner of the Exxon parking lot is quite a treat. It's funny, I remember a whole bunch about her... except her name.

NO HUNTER hunter leaves any shot animal in the woods without verifing the kill, you have no right to even own a bb gun letting a suffering animal wander away, who ever taught you to hunt left your education sorely lacking...Call game officials let them know you have a wounded bear in the area
Unbelievably irresponsible.

I suppose every shot you take is an instant kill. And you have some special ability to see at night to track an animal. And can follow a blood trail after a long heavy rainfall. I spent two days covering a huge area trying to find that animal, but if I was as good a hunter as you I suppose it would have died on the butchers table. I feel horrible knowing that that bear may be injured or died and not recovered but I also have a clear conscience knowing I did everything I could to try to recover that animal. If you have any constructive advice I am listening, but I suspect you just want to blow your high and mighty horn.

Here's your constructive advice, EOTR: One shot, one kill.

Anything less is a failure. If you can't hit the ten-ring, don't shoot till you get closer or better. Or, both. Just to be sure. If you don't know where the ten-ring is, learn more about your target. There are two ten-rings on a bear, depending on your weapon and load. Choose wisely or don't shoot. If you don't have shooting light, get NV equipment or don't shoot.

Forget optimism and hope, in this at least: From this day forward, be absolutely sure your target will never suffer. Or, don't shoot. As soon as your shot is away, reload and track again.

There's even a selfish reason for this (besides Karma) if you need one: The pain and fear a wounded animal feels releases chemicals into his (or her) entire body which destroys the taste of the meat.

Start regular target shooting and get good at it before you go out again. Please.

A suggestion: If you can't reliably take grouse with a .22 head shot at 40 paces, don't shoot. Ever.
