And this is why I gave up Long Haul OTR. I have been caught out once or twice due to road closures, but I know that I am always headed home at the midpoint of the run.

Don't forget that at this time of the year in the Northern States you are allowed to be 10% overweight for ice and snow build up! I don't know where you can find that in the regulations but that was one that I was told by management when I was given an over weight load of graderblades out of Steinbeck going to Bucyrus. Ohio. Also it makes sense that when the road beds are frozen solid then they can tolerate such a rule, but when the frost is coming out the exact opposite applies of course! Take care and keep warm!

I made to belloit il phoned custommer. says no need for a crane take off with forklift.told them they put on with crane the press is top heavy.it weights 48 thousand pounds.so will run to their location after midnight they can unload when open. The press is flat on deck so if they want to do that with forklift they own it i am standing back. I phoned dispatch they say not my problem if drop on trailer they will own a trailer to. I got a compresser going to fort mac and plate going to bc.

Don't give up just yet!!! There are brain dead customers in every company's list! Just drop your landing gear for extra stability, and K.T.F.O.T.W.!!! Did you find out if there is any mention in the regulations about that 10% for ice and snow after the 1st of Dec. in the Northern States until........? I am still curious about what I was told on that one.

If you like deck freight....get a hold of Big Freight. I understand that they treat you with respect.

They'll make you chip and hack away at the 10% until you're legal.

Right now here in Ont. you might want to be a fuel tanker yanker because you know that at least you will have fuel first! Last night here in the Shwaa there were fist fights in the line ups for gasoline. It is going to be a while before things ease and settle down we are told. Esso Nantikoke is apparently back on line but running slowly. It takes a while to get the production flow through up to speed in a refinery. Just lucky they aren't in a -40 degree temp regime with heavy ashphaltic crude! Then the boilerhouse has to produce steam full out. Everything in a refinery depends on steam power with only some electric motor pumps.

well i got unloaded they had two forklifts with like a boom attachment they hooked the straps on and lifted press up enough for me to drive out from underneath.got the steel plate loaded, went to michigan city to load the compresser after waiting for three hours find out will not load me as the compresser has to sit flat on deck can not put dunage down put the compresser on that.can not put ontop of plate as metal an metal and one is smooth so no way to keep from sliding.so get to go get a couple of skids that have to be tarped.at least both drops going to bc.
