Hi Folks,
Well i have been home since Thursday am. I got home back into town about 11 am and i went right to my wife's place of work and gave her a big surprise. I called her just as we were leaving camp on Wed night and gave her a sob story that we just got into camp and had to shower, eat and maybe wait for other guys when infact i was already on the road. So this little story gave me a few hours to play with. It is a 5 hour drive from the camp to where my truck is parked. Then a 10 hour drive home. I drove all night and only stopped for gas and a short nap that was interrupted when my wife called to let me know she was going into work. I was tired but i got my second wind and finished off the drive and made it home safe and sound. So needless to say i sure shocked her when i got a co-worker of hers to get her to come to the front entrance way and there i was. It was sure nice to see her. :lover:

I came home after i saw her to drop off my clothes then i grabbed some lunch for my wife and her mother and myself. We had a short visit and when my wife went back to work i came home for a nap and i didn't wakeup till she called me for supper a few hours later. I know the time will go by fast by now it is only a week in and a week out less the travel but i got my first pay cheque and i already see a vast improvement and that is just my training rate. I got accredited on the truck so when i go back i'll be on my own with another pay raise.

The work isn't really hard you just have to drag hoses and sometimes fight with the valves on the tank but to be honest for what they pay you...i'll take it. :D I head back on Wed am early but i know what not to take and what to take so i won't be needing my big bag i took. Some guys asked if i left anything at home. What a bunch of jokers. :harhar: I just have to expect the wet season or breakup as they call it. I have my rubber boots handy if that is all it takes. Well i will close off this portion of my mini novel....hope i didn't bore anyone to tears. I am taking my wife out for a nice breakfast and then relax after that. Later folks. :bye:

That's great news DT.
I'm happy things are working out for you. How did your wife like her week? What has your weather been like up there?

Like Dave said, pop in when ever you can.

Take care.

Holly

2T, where are you working out of ???

Holly...well my wife had a run of bad luck. First off it snowed the first week i was gone.So she did ALOT of shovelling twice a day for a few days. :wtf: Then at work a patient grabbed her right hand and he was squeezing it for a few mins and did some damage. She was off work for a few days on WC.She is back to work but it is still hurting her. But she is happy i am home for a few more days.

Like i said they had alot of snow since i left but it has really melted since i have been home so spring is around the corner. The weather up there didn't get below -20 while i was there for my 2 weeks but i found it humid so a few days i got chilled pretty good. Nothing that a nice long hot shower didn't cure.

PM.....i work out of Wabasca. We stay in a camp that is pretty much in the north part of what i guess is the Britnell oilfield. We do alot of work for CNRL and EnCana. I trained on 2006 KW T800 with a tri axle vac trailer. I am not sure what kind of unit i will be on when i get back since they run both semi units or body jobs. They run just KW and Stars up here. Have to wait and see.

The camp life is ok...meals are good, they make your bed every day and the sheets are changed when you switch out. Plus there are fresh towels left in your room every day for you to shower with. Plus they have sat tv but at the end of the day after you have put in a 14 - 15 hr day you pretty much eat, have a shower and it's lights out. I like to read so i usually read for about 15 mins every night.

P.S.
Is that better Buzzy? :p

Is the camp set up at Pelican City ???

PM....I have not heard anyone talk about Pelican City. I don't know if your familiar with the Britnell oilfield i spoke of earlier but our camp is setup a few km's north of EnCana's oil battery plus they have an airstrip close by that they fly their workers in on.

If you kept going past Encana's camp for about 6 miles that would take you to Pelican City as it used to be called.

I know exactly where the air strip is located. Actually I didn't mind running the roads in that area. They were in pretty good shape.

Ah..OK i have never been north of the camp so i will take your word for it. :)

I will ask when i go back in on Wed. Yes the roads are in pretty good shape right now but i hear once it starts to thaw it is a different story. :wtf:

I looked that up on Streets and Trips. You are away North of the Swan Hills where the game preserve is to protect the Plains Grizzle Bears, the rare gray bears. They are every bit as dangerous as their brown cousins!
The second largest bear ever shot was by a Metis woman trying to protect her children. She took a .22 from the porch and stuck it the bear's ear! That bear was old and sickly, was the reason the Rangers gave as to how she and her kids lived to tell about it!

Holly...My wife did pretty good other then the snow that needed to be shovelled. Her wrist is still a bit sore but it is getting better slowly. The thing that got my goat is some people that we might call friends said if she ever needed a hand they would be over. NOT one of them called the whole time i was gone other then 1 couple who asked my wife to go for supper with them.

We had a bunch of snow and we ran into one guys wife and she said he said well her mom is there she will help my wife shovel...now are you ready for this...my mother-in-law is 89 years old. :wow:

That blew me away as this guy is a pretty good friend of ours..or i thought he was just kinda makes you think who your true friends are doesn't it.

But anyways the snow is starting to melt and with any luck we won't get anymore big snowfalls but we have been told by another couple that if it snows alot he will come and do our driveway...i hope. :noclue:

My wife doesn't really know how to run the computer even tho i have shown her how too on numerous occasions. So i'll try again. :hmph:

It's sad when you do find out who are or aren't friend's.
I learn't early that you can count on yourself 100%, but you can never count on anyone else 100%.
If I don't need to aks for help, I won't. Doesn't mean I won't be one of the 1st to offer & actually give help. That will never change.

I wish I we were closer. I could keep her busy while you are gone. :D

My wife isn't the type to ask for help but you would still think that friends would call even tho she never called them. I know myself if one of my friends was away for an extended time with work i would call but then that's just the type of guy i am.
