To be an Owner/Operator or a Company driver?

When is it a good idea to become an Owner/Operator?

Is it best to have many years of trucking experiences and networking of business contacts.

Can someone new to this career choice just start out from school as an Owner/Operator?

Yes 4-5 years sound about right. I worked for 4 years as a company driver before buying my own truck. I have had my own truck for 2 yrs now. For me it was the best thing that I have ever done.
