Is it as easy as this.....Example: Simplified Method

Days on the road = 200

    Meals on the road = 600 x $17.00 = $10,200.00 x 80% ( as I am a long-hauler! )

    Claimed amount = $8160.00???

Now I have done this through Turbo Tax. In my case it changes my refund from $700.00 to over $3000.00!

Please tell me what you think as I am having a tough time believing this difference in the refund amount!

    Thx.
    hi,
when i was a comp driver it was 64.xxx income
2adult 1 child payout was all the time around 8k in NB

the tax software and a lot of tax offices dont know the tax law around Trucks.

we got the case in NB 2 Families both are drivers in the same Comp
both with children and 64k bzw 65k

    one gos to Hole&Run .... payout 3k
the 2. use Liberty Tram .. payout 8.5k

you dont need to handout all your logs .. its ok if you make a letter with xx meals in US ... xxx meals in Canada (it must be seperat about GST for canada)

If you have concerns about an audit, keep your receipts and put them in a safe place.
I got a big pile of money back one year where I was over 300 days on the road and two years later I was audited a couple weeks after a house fire that destroyed my records and receipts and they wanted most of it back.
It was almost as if they knew I couldn't produce!
They showed a little leniency with a letter from the fire chief explaining the loss, but I still had to pay back a big chunk of it.

did you claim it your self or via a tax office/agency ??

i know a handful drivers who do it there self via turbo tax etc and get audit 5 times in 6 years nothing wrong after they change to LTax they got more out and no audit in the 5 follow years.

I've always used a tax agency or accountant, don't trust myself.
